5 Things I wish I had more time for

  1. Working out
  2. Writing
  3. Reading
  4. Crafting
  5. Blogging

Everyone knows that you should get some exercise every day, but finding time to do it is difficult.  That’s one of the issues every contestant on The Biggest Loser complains about.  What time do you cut into to make the time?  Time with the family?  Work?  Sleep?  There is only a finite amount of time in each day.

I do pretty well with daily exercise, and sometimes I even work out twice a day.  But I rarely read daily, or craft daily, and I sure don’t blog daily (my last blog was…2 weeks ago?!)

I should write daily.  Every piece of writing advice says this.  But I don’t.  Actually, right now, I can’t remember the last time I wrote something creative.  Within the last two weeks, certainly, but within the last week?  I don’t think so.

I recently thought, you know, I want to do each of these things daily.  Surely there’s time for that somewhere, right?

But where?

Where does my time go, and when can I carve out some time to do the things I’m supposed to do?  Maybe if I stopped showering, or cut my sleeping down to four hours a night, maybe then I’d have time.  A teleporting device would sure come in handy, I could easily get an extra 3-4 hours a week by not having to drive.

What’s sad is, I don’t even have kids I can blame it on.  I can’t say, “I have to pick the kids up from soccer practice, make them a snack, help them with their homework, get them bathed and put to bed.”

So how is it they can do it, and I can’t?

Is it that I have to choose?  I only get one thing of those five?  Then what’s it to be?  Write?  Or work out?  Read, or blog?

I don’t want to choose – I want to do it all.

5 things I’m excited about this weekend

  1. Riding The Intimidator again.  The first time I rode it, it took my breath away – literally.  The second time (the same night as the first time) I was able to enjoy it more, knowing what to expect.  I wonder, since it’s been a while, if I’ll need to ride it a second time.  Wait…why wouldn’t I ride it a second time?
  2. Riding the Borg (I still call it that, even though the name changed).  I love this one because at one point, you really feel like you’re flying – face down, the wind whooshing around you, and no machinery in your line of sight.  If I could take a video, I would, but it’s not advisable.
  3. Riding Ricochet, the East Coast’s version of California Adventure’s Mulholland Drive.  This is the stupidest ride, ever, a cramped 4 person car, knees to your chest (and I’m short), going down a twisty-turny road.  But I enjoy the hell out of it, and it may be my favorite ride of all time.  I want to do it again, and again, and again.
  4. Riding the rapids, because it’s sure to be hot tomorrow.
  5. Doing all of the above with wonderful company.  🙂

5 Things I’m watching this summer

  1. Covert Affairs.  I realize it’s horribly cheesy, but that’s part of the fun.  Mindless entertainment!
  2. In Plain Sight
  3. Burn Notice
  4. The last four episodes of The Mentalist, still saved and unwatched on my DVR
  5.  This movie

What are you watching this summer?

5 Things I wish my cat understood

  1. Just because I’m in the kitchen does not mean I am there to feed you.
  2. You can’t be starving to death if there is still food in your bowl.
  3. You’re supposed to kill the insect, not stare at it and meow for help.
  4. The shower is not going to hurt me.
  5. Tomorrow is Saturday.  If you wake me up at 6am to feed you and I find food in your bowl, I will be pissed.

This is my cat, particularly the part at the end when he points to his mouth:
