Some people are runners. Some hate running with a fiery passion. Me, I’m a runner at heart, but a walker by injury.
I’m one of those insane people who likes to run. I hate walking (for exercise). I feel like it’s a waste of time – by running you can go much farther in the same amount of time! Running helps calm my monkey mind, helps me zone out, erases all the scribbles in my head. Walking just makes it worse. Unfortunately, about 6 or 7 years ago, I injured my knee. Still not really sure what I did to it. I went to the doctor, I had an MRI, I went for physical therapy. No one could tell me what was wrong, and nothing made it better.
I miss running. I so wish I could do it again. Once we get back to the US, maybe I’ll be able to go to a specialist, or maybe I’ll check out acupuncture. (Yeah, I miss it enough to be stuck with a hundred needles…)
So what about you? Which would you prefer? Everyone who comments on This or That in the month of June is registered to win a 4×6 print of this photo:
i was a runner up until 3 yrs ago. i hurt my knee also. on the last run i knew i’d never run again. i took it quite hard for a time.
there are times i see someone out there in their zone i get a little sad for myself still.
my husband was a runner also, he hurt himself and has never got back into it again although he says he’s going to but it’s not happened.
now we both are avid fast paced walkers, we go 4-7 days a week. it’s not the same as running but i do enjoy it. we both ran alone but now that we walk together so it’s been great for our relationship and communication.
so i would say i’m a walker.
In my family we love walking We walk in a month aproximatey 120km-160km. For a runner it is nothing, I guess.
Have a nice new week!
